Math rock + jazzy indie-pop (keyboards + electronic toys) = Bells Of, the sporadic and eclectic project of warm-fuzzy musician Lawrence McDonald. If you’re counting, the new Bells Of record, 3’s Company, is actually the band’s fourth release in a series beginning in 1992: Eleven:Eleven came first,  followed by Two Dos Or Not 2? in ’94 and Four Your Listening Pleasure in ’98. Why the chronological discrepancy? The Teenbeat Records Web site is fairly frank on the topic – the long-lost third record was originally slated for a ’97 release but was held hostage by the recording studio while certain bills were sorted out. But a count of 1, 2, 4, 3 is still pretty much in line with the Bells Of oeuvre, in which a quirky brew of blissfully mismatched pop and punk variables never seems to behave. McDonald and friends perform tonight with Teenbeat label mate Johnny Cohen at 9 p.m. at the Galaxy Hut, 2711 Wilson Blvd., Arlington. Free.
